Master in Geodesy and Geoinformatics – Specialisation in Remote Sensing and GIS

Tuition is No tuition fees; 440 EUR/semester.

Geodesy and Geoinformatics with a specialisation in Remote Sensing and GIS is a geoscience programme grounded primarily in computer science, image processing, geoinformatics, and artificial intelligence. Its central theme is deriving actionable insights for sustainable development by observing and monitoring the Earth as a whole. Combining image and geodata analysis, positioning, and communication, the programme addresses applications relevant to agriculture and forestry, environmental protection, climate change, disaster control, and civil security. The four-semester Master's programme opens in the winter semester and is taught in English. The first two semesters introduce students to the foundational disciplines of the specialisation, including Image Analysis, Remote Sensing, and Data Science. Alongside research-oriented theory, projects and seminars are structured to develop teamwork and problem-oriented thinking. Students in the Remote Sensing and GIS track deepen their knowledge of image-based Earth observation techniques, data analysis, and evaluation and presentation using geoinformation systems. The programme is delivered at Leibniz University Hannover in Hannover, Germany.
