Master in Geology

Tuition fees for Master in Geology are 2,500 EUR per year.

Geology at the University of Warsaw, in Warszawa, Poland, is a two-year (4-semester) master's program taught in English, with yearly tuition of EUR 2,500. The degree was created jointly by the university's Faculties of Geology and Chemistry under the title Applied Petroleum Geosciences, following an analysis of the educational market in Poland and abroad and an assessment of the scientific potential of both faculties. The program is designed to supplement the existing educational offer in Poland and to appeal to students from Poland and from other countries, reflecting the University of Warsaw's broader strategy of expanding its international degree offerings. Applied Petroleum Geosciences responds to the growing exploration industry for hydrocarbons, including shale gas, as well as other energy and mineral resources. Coursework is built to give students thorough grounding in both geology and chemistry, preparing graduates for jobs and research across the field of petroleum geology broadly understood. The program combines specialized and interdisciplinary content, strengthening students' ability to integrate different types of geological data. Teaching draws heavily on expert knowledge, with instructors invited from the petroleum and chemical industries contributing to the curriculum. Graduates of the program are positioned to take up roles in the petroleum extraction industry, working in exploration, reservoir characterization, and resource assessment. More broadly, degrees in geology of this kind train students in mineralogy, structural geology, geochemistry, and geophysical methods, preparing them for careers with energy companies, environmental consultancies, government geological surveys, and research institutions, as well as for further postgraduate study in earth sciences.
