Accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland, this MSc in Gerontology Practice is delivered on a part-time basis over two years. The programme is split into three stages: Year 1 comprises four compulsory modules (Ageing, Health Assessment and Management; Contemporary Legal and Professional Issues; Contemporary Approaches to Care of the Older Person; Advanced Research Skills), each worth 10 credits. Year 2 continues with two mandatory modules (Dementia, Delirium and Mental Health in the Older Person; Advanced Professional Leadership and Management) and a 30-credit Research Dissertation Practicum, bringing the total to 90 ECTS.

The course is aimed at registered nurses (NMBI) or allied health professionals (CORU) who work with older people and have at least one year post-graduate experience. It develops theoretical knowledge, professional values and evidence-based skills for planning and implementing person-centred interventions in acute, community and long-stay settings, supporting progression to senior clinical or managerial roles.
