Historians at the Universität des Saarlandes, partnering with the Landesmuseum Saar, examine over 1,500 years from the first written sources to the end of the Antique, with a focus on the Greek and Roman eras. With a campus in Saarbrücken, they investigate the region's Celtic and Roman archaeological finds.

This is a three-year programme. The Study History module covers the medieval period's political, social, and cultural transformations. The Modern History module discusses the 19th century and explores the Weimar Republic and Nazi period, and the European Time History focuses on Germany, France, and transatlantic relations, with an emphasis on popular culture and modern sports.

Students develop critical thinking and research skills through lectures, seminars, and exercises, and can even explore the region through excursions to cultural artifacts. They can choose from a range of electives to tailor their studies, including the Professionalisierungsbereich, which offers practical courses in digital work, journalism, and marketing, allowing students to develop essential skills for the modern workplace.

There are many options for graduates; they can go on to study a master's degree, such as History in European Perspective, or work in public and cultural sectors, or in tourism and marketing. They can also work in archival, library, and museum settings, where they will be utilizing their research and information management expertise.
