Global Competency Certificate

The Global Competency Certificate prepares individuals for roles needing cultural awareness and global understanding. Skills in intercultural communication and critical thinking are developed. This credential supports careers in international education, refugee and immigrant services, global supply chain management, environmental sustainability, international business, and international relations.

Fifteen credits are required. Twelve credits come from a list of eligible courses across many disciplines. Three credits are chosen from specific options like GLGC 1101 or NURS 3318. A global or local learning experience such as an exchange, field school, or volunteer opportunity is required. These experiences must be approved and completed in person or online.

The program takes one year to complete and can start in Fall, Winter, or Summer. All requirements must be finished within four years. At least half the credits must be taken at Douglas College. Admission is open to all who meet general college requirements. No application is needed if taking the courses as part of another program.
