Master in Henry James Washington Square

Tuition comes to 3,795 USD per year.

Experience an immersive exploration of Henry James’s Washington Square, a narrative that functions simultaneously as a poignant study of human motives and a compelling detective-like investigation. This course is specifically curated for literature enthusiasts who admire James’s stature in world literature but have been intimidated by his reputation for complexity.

By deconstructing the story of a young woman caught between genuine affection and her father’s suspicions of a fortune-hunting suitor, participants will uncover the irony, dreams, and potential deception woven into the text. The course aims to demystify the author's prose, demonstrating that this particular work is not only accessible but also remarkably suspenseful and witty. It is an ideal intellectual retreat for those looking to engage deeply with one of the most significant, yet under-read, masters of the craft.
