History traces the political, social, economic, and cultural development of societies across different periods and regions. Coursework typically spans ancient, medieval, and modern history, with attention to historiography, archival research methods, and the critical evaluation of primary and secondary sources. Students learn to construct evidence-based arguments, situate events within broader contexts, and communicate historical analysis in writing. The program builds research, analytical, and communication skills applicable well beyond the discipline itself. Graduates go on to work in education, publishing, museums and archives, public administration, journalism, and further academic study at the graduate level. The program is offered in English at Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey, over a duration of 4 years.
