    About Minor in Indigenous Studies

    Students in the Indigenous Studies minor engage with Indigenous cultures, histories, politics, law, and communities from Mi'kma'ki perspectives. The programme focuses on cross-cultural understanding and knowledge from Indigenous viewpoints. It is designed for students who want to deepen their understanding of Indigenous experiences and relationships in Canada and the Maritimes.

    The curriculum includes courses on traditional and contemporary Indigenous knowledge, Two-Eyed Seeing, Indigenous research ethics, health and well-being, treaties, and language. Students take classes such as Introduction to Mi'kmaw Language, Traditional Ecological Knowledge, and Indigenous Health and Well-Being.
