The Master of Science in Industrial Engineering and Management at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology is an interdisciplinary programme spanning business administration, economics, informatics, and engineering. Students deepen and extend their undergraduate qualifications in these disciplines while building an individual academic profile. There is no mandatory technical specialisation: students shape their programme according to their own interests. The four-semester programme awards 120 credit points based on the ECTS framework, with intakes in both winter and summer semesters. The first two semesters focus on the Quantitative Core Module, covering economics, business administration, operations research, statistics, or informatics. Alongside this, compulsory coursework builds technical and methodological skills in business, economics, engineering, and informatics. Throughout the first three semesters, students complete a Seminar Module and a Supervised Profile Definition course, which involves creating an individual study plan in consultation with faculty. The third semester includes compulsory elective courses allowing further specialisation, with options in business and economics, engineering and informatics, and additionally in statistics, law, or sociology.
