These specializations draw on issues arising from practical IT applications and the latest trends observed in science worldwide, and can be applied across almost every field of economy, science, or social life, meaning PhD dissertations in information technology can be developed by specialists working in a wide range of areas. The program is administered through the Admissions Office in Lodz, located at ul. Information science as a discipline covers how information systems, data, and computational methods are studied and applied, spanning theoretical computer science, applied information technology, and systems-level research such as expert systems and adaptive systems. Doctoral study in this field involves independent research under supervision, culminating in a dissertation that contributes new findings to one of these specialization areas. Graduates of a PhD in information science typically move into academic research and teaching positions, or into senior technical and research roles in industry or public institutions where advanced expertise in information technology and systems research is required.
