The Bachelor's programme in Innovative Textiles is designed for students who have already completed two semesters of basic studies at a foreign university. It offers an interdisciplinary curriculum drawing on diverse science and engineering principles, with extensive laboratory exercises as a central element. The main subjects are complemented by elective courses providing a broad engineering foundation leading to two specialisation options. The programme runs across seven semesters. The first two semesters, taught in German, cover the basics of textiles and engineering. From the third semester onwards, instruction switches to English and progressively deepens knowledge of yarn and textile fabric production, including woven, weft-knitted, warp-knitted, and non-woven fabrics, as well as finishing techniques through dyeing, printing, and coating. Advanced semesters focus on textile chemistry and technical textiles. The final semester consists of an internship at a company of the student's choice and the Bachelor's thesis. All classes are small. Lectures and laboratory exercises take place on the Münchberg campus, which has been a traditional centre for textiles for over 150 years, as well as at the Hof campus. The programme is offered at Hof University of Applied Sciences in Münchberg.
