About the Program

The Master's programme in Intercultural Theology examines the intercultural and transcultural character of Christian faith in the context of global change. The programme focuses on Christian faith and its intercultural impacts, and students acquire academic skills in theology and religious studies while engaging in intercultural and interreligious learning within an international group setting. The two-year full-time programme runs over 4 semesters. The first year concentrates on Biblical Exegesis, Hermeneutics, Contextual Theologies, and the study of Christianity through transcultural and postcolonial perspectives. The second year deepens systematic and practical theological knowledge, with students developing individual research projects and completing their Master's thesis. Students also build competence in intercultural communication and basic German, and may study relevant languages such as Biblical Hebrew or Biblical Greek.
