Interior architecture and environmental design focuses on planning and shaping indoor and outdoor spaces so they are functional, safe, and responsive to the people who use them. Typical coursework covers spatial design principles, materials and construction detailing, lighting, furniture and fixtures, building codes, and design software used for drafting and 3D visualization, alongside history and theory courses that situate design decisions in a broader context. Studio-based projects are central to the curriculum, with students developing design proposals for residential, commercial, or public interiors and presenting them through drawings, models, and renderings. Graduates typically work as interior architects or designers, in furniture and fixture design, workplace and retail design, or in collaboration with architecture firms on the interior components of larger building projects.
