Interior Architecture and Environmental Design focuses on planning and designing interior spaces and their surrounding environments, balancing functionality, comfort, and visual design within buildings. Coursework typically includes design studio, spatial planning, materials and finishes, lighting design, furniture design, and computer-aided design tools, with studio projects forming the central learning method throughout the program. Students learn to analyze how people use interior spaces, developing design solutions for residential, commercial, and public environments while considering technical constraints such as building systems and accessibility. This bachelor's program is delivered over 4 years in English at Antalya Bilim University in Antalya, Turkey, providing a design-focused curriculum within an international academic setting. The program generally emphasizes studio critique, model-making, and presentation skills, alongside coursework covering the history of interior design and environmental design principles. Graduates pursue careers as interior designers, environmental design consultants, and space planners, working with design firms, architecture practices, hospitality companies, and retail businesses, where thoughtful interior and environmental design contributes to how spaces function and feel. Some graduates continue into graduate study in interior architecture, design, or related creative fields to deepen their specialization. Because the discipline connects closely with architecture, students also gain understanding of structural and technical considerations that affect interior design decisions. Antalya's active tourism and hospitality sector, which relies heavily on well-designed interior and public spaces, offers students a relevant context for studying environmental design throughout the four years of coursework and studio practice.
