Bahçeşehir University

Bachelor in Interior Architecture and Environmental Design

İstanbul, Turkey Taught in English Open to international students

About the Program

Interior architecture and environmental design covers the planning, detailing, and construction of interior spaces, together with the study of how built environments interact with landscape, light, and materials. Students typically work through studio projects that move from concept sketches to technical drawings, model making, and material specification, alongside coursework in structural systems, building codes, sustainability, and the history of architecture and design. Digital tools for drafting and 3D visualization are used throughout the program to develop, present, and refine spatial proposals. Graduates commonly go on to work in interior design and architecture firms, furniture and product design studios, exhibition and retail design, and construction and project management roles, with some continuing into graduate study in architecture or design research. This bachelor program is delivered in English over 4 years at Bahçeşehir University in İstanbul, Turkey. Studying in an English-language track allows students to build technical vocabulary used internationally in architecture and design practice while also engaging with the local building traditions and urban fabric of İstanbul, a city with a long architectural history spanning multiple eras. The curriculum generally balances design studios with lecture-based courses, giving students both hands-on project experience and grounding in the theoretical and technical knowledge needed to practice professionally. Group critiques, site visits, and collaborative studio work are common features of the learning process in this field.
