The International Engineering (IEB) Bachelor's programme at Furtwangen University is a seven-semester degree that combines engineering training with economics, languages, and intercultural content. The programme is structured so that approximately 70% of the curriculum covers technology, with a choice of specialisation in either mechanical engineering or medical engineering, and the remaining 30% addresses economics, language skills, and intercultural aspects. An additional language — Chinese, French, Spanish, or German — is studied alongside the technical content. The first part of the programme covers engineering basics, cultural studies, and business fundamentals. The main phase introduces core engineering knowledge and practical skills, with the option to specialise in mechanical or medical engineering and to personalise the path through elective courses. The programme also includes a semester abroad at a partner university and a practical internship. Non-EU applicants who do not meet standard academic entry criteria may gain access through a three-hour aptitude test under the university's Smart Admission pathway.
