The tuition fee is 520,800 JPY per year.

International Health is a three-year doctoral program at The University of Tokyo in Tokyo, Japan, taught in English, with entry available in April or October. The University of Tokyo is Japan's oldest national university, founded in 1877, and organizes education and research across ten faculties and fifteen graduate schools. The doctoral program in International Health focuses on health issues and health systems from a global and cross-national perspective, covering areas such as epidemiology, public health policy, global health governance, health economics, and disease prevention and control in diverse regional contexts. Doctoral candidates design an original research project under faculty supervision, often combining fieldwork or data analysis in specific countries or regions with broader theoretical study of health systems, and work toward a dissertation addressing a defined question in international health. Students typically come from backgrounds in medicine, public health, epidemiology, or the social sciences. Graduates with a doctorate in international health are prepared for careers in academic research, international health organizations, government health ministries, nongovernmental organizations working on global health, and policy research roles. Applicants must submit English proficiency test scores, choosing between TOEFL or IELTS; TOEIC is not accepted. Screening of application documents is required, along with an interview that includes an oral examination and presentation, though no short essay or practical exam is required. There is no transfer system for the program, and pre-arrival admission is not offered, meaning accepted students must be in Japan before finalizing their admission to the three-year doctoral program.
