PhD in Jader Ferrazzi

Students interested in the Linguistica e didattica delle lingue department will thrive in the Jader Ferrazzi PhD programme, studying the development of the prepositional accusative in modern Italian. The research focuses on how this grammatical feature, initially thought to be confined to Southern Italy, has spread to Northern regions, particularly with specific verb classes. The project aims to assess the acceptability of prepositional objects using data from monolingual native speakers and Italian speakers abroad in diglossic environments. The goal is to gain a deeper understanding of the linguistic evolution of this construction, with particular attention to its future developments.
