Laban kinetography is a writing system for movement created by Rudolf Laban (1879–1958), enabling all movements of the human body to be transcribed onto a score. This two-year first-cycle programme trains students to create, read and perform scores for choreographic works, and to transmit works from the notated early and contemporary dance repertoire, complemented by related disciplines little taught in France such as choreutics (study of space) and Effort (study of dynamics).

The diploma awarded, per the Conservatoire's diploma structure, is the Diplôme de 1er cycle supérieur en Notation du Mouvement Laban.

English Test Requirement

Taught in French; no English-language test is required for admission. Candidates from non-French-speaking countries must present a French-language certificate of B1 before their first enrolment.
