About Bachelor in Language and literature studies (German)

Offered by the Philological School of Higher Education in Wrocław in Wrocław, Poland, this bachelor's program in German Language and Literature runs full-time over three years, or six semesters, with English used as the language of instruction for the program overall. Four specialisations are available: a Translation Program, a German for Business and Tourism Program, a Teaching German as a Foreign Language track, and a general specialisation that lets students freely choose among available courses without a fixed professional profile. Full-time students attend fifteen weeks of regular classes each semester, with classes held Monday to Friday between eight in the morning and three in the afternoon. Each September, students register online for their courses, selecting class times and days, specialisation courses, and whether individual courses run online or face-to-face. The program offers two starting points: a Language Continued mode for students who already have German at B1 level, or a Language Beginner mode for those starting from A1 level. Core courses build practical German skills in listening and reading comprehension as well as speaking and writing, aiming for proficiency up to C1 on the Common European Framework of Reference. Teaching draws on a range of activating methods supported by online resources. Alongside language training, students study German literature, linguistics, and culture from a wider intercultural and interdisciplinary perspective, with elective modules covering foreign language teaching, business and tourism German, and translation. This mix of language skill-building and cultural and linguistic study prepares graduates for careers in translation, teaching, business, or tourism where German-language competence is valued, as well as further study in philology or applied linguistics.
