    About the Program

The Licence - Droit (Law) at Avignon Université in Avignon, France, is a three-year bachelor-level program providing a structured introduction to the French legal system and its European context. Law programs at this level introduce students to the main branches of private and public law: civil law governing relationships between individuals, constitutional law, administrative law, criminal law, contract and tort, and EU law. Courses train students to read and interpret legislation and judicial decisions, understand the organisation of the French court system, and construct reasoned legal arguments in written and oral form. Practical exercises in legal drafting and case analysis complement lecture-based instruction. The program is taught entirely in French, which is the operative language of all French legal institutions. It begins in September, runs for 3 years, and costs 178 EUR per year. A law degree is the standard first step toward all major legal professions in France, including the bar, the judiciary, notarial practice, and public administration. It is also required entry for master's-level specialisation in business law, public law, social law, international and European law, or criminal law. Graduates who do not continue in law often use the analytical and argumentative skills they develop in careers in management, insurance, real estate, and policy work.
