The Licence - Droit (Law) at the Université de Reims Champagne-Ardenne in Reims, France, is a three-year bachelor-level degree taught in French, with a September start and annual tuition of 178 EUR. Undergraduate legal study provides a systematic and rigorous introduction to the structure and substance of the French and European legal order. Students study the foundational areas of both private and public law: constitutional law, civil law, contract and tort law, criminal law, administrative law, commercial law, and European Union law. Legal history and legal theory are also covered, providing context for understanding how legal rules develop and how they are interpreted. The programme develops core lawyerly skills — reading and analysing statutes, case law, and legal doctrine; constructing coherent legal arguments; and presenting those arguments clearly in writing and in oral form. These skills are valued well beyond the legal profession itself. The law licence is the standard prerequisite for the competitive examinations that lead to the bar, the judiciary, the notariat, and other branches of the French legal service. It is also the foundation for master's degrees in any legal specialisation, and graduates who do not pursue legal careers find the degree relevant in public administration, compliance, insurance, human resources, and business management. Instruction is entirely in French.
