Bachelor in Licence - Informatique

Tuition fees are 178 EUR per year.

Université Paris 8, in Saint-Denis, France, offers a Licence - Informatique, a bachelor's degree in computer science. This discipline covers the theory and practice of computing, including programming in one or more languages, algorithms and data structures, the mathematical foundations of computing, databases, computer networks, and operating systems. As students progress, coursework typically extends into software engineering practices, covering how software is designed, built, tested, and maintained, along with introductions to areas such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, or web and application development, depending on the options offered. A computer science education builds problem-solving skills grounded in logical and mathematical reasoning, alongside practical experience writing and debugging code. It prepares students both for further academic study and for direct entry into technical roles. Career paths for computer science graduates are broad and include software development, data analysis, systems and network administration, IT support and infrastructure, and further specialization through a master's degree in areas such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, or software architecture. This bachelor's program runs for three years and is taught in French, matching the standard structure of the French licence. The academic year begins in September, and yearly tuition is 178 EUR, consistent with fees at French public universities. Based in Saint-Denis, the program is part of the Paris region's higher education landscape, an area with a substantial concentration of technology employers and research institutions relevant to computer science graduates.
