Bachelor in Licence - Lettres

For Bachelor in Licence - Lettres, tuition costs 178 EUR per year.

Lettres, or literary studies, is the French university discipline devoted to the close study of literature, language, and written expression, typically centered on French-language texts but often including comparative or foreign-language literature as well. Students in a Lettres program study literary works across periods and genres — poetry, theater, the novel, and essay writing — alongside training in textual analysis, linguistics, grammar, and the history of the French language. Coursework commonly includes commentary and dissertation writing, close reading methods, literary theory, and sometimes options in classical languages, foreign literatures, or creative writing. The discipline builds strong skills in written expression, argumentation, and critical analysis of texts, which are valued across many professional fields. Graduates of Lettres programs commonly pursue careers in teaching, publishing, journalism, editing, communications, cultural administration, and library or archival work. The degree is also a standard route into master's-level study for students preparing for competitive teaching exams (such as those for secondary education) or for further specialization in literature, linguistics, or communication. This Licence in Lettres is offered by Université Le Havre Normandie, located in Le Havre, France. It is a bachelor's-level degree completed over three years, with instruction given entirely in French. The program is scheduled to begin in September, and yearly tuition is 178 EUR, in line with standard tuition at French public universities. Prospective students should confirm current admission requirements with the university before applying.
