Bachelor in Licence - Lettres

Tuition fees are 178 EUR per year.

Literary studies, taught here as a bachelor's degree in Lettres, provide sustained study of literary texts, primarily in French, alongside training in language, writing, and textual analysis. The discipline typically covers literature from different historical periods, from classical and medieval works through to contemporary writing, along with coursework in grammar, linguistics, and the methods used to analyze literary form, style, and meaning. Students generally engage extensively with close reading, essay writing, and oral presentation, developing the ability to construct clear, well-supported arguments about texts and ideas. Many programs also include coursework in general culture, comparative literature, or an introduction to a foreign language and its literature, broadening the scope of study beyond French letters alone. Because the discipline centers on careful reading and precise written expression, students build strong communication skills applicable well beyond literary study itself. Graduates of Lettres programs commonly pursue further study toward teaching qualifications in French language and literature, or move into careers in publishing, journalism, editing, communications, cultural administration, and public-sector roles that require strong writing and analytical skills. Some continue into graduate study in literature, linguistics, or related humanities fields. This program is offered by the Université Côte d'Azur, in Nice, France. It is a three-year bachelor's degree, taught in French, beginning in September, with yearly tuition of 178 EUR.
