Bachelor in Licence - Sciences de l'éducation et de la formation

Tuition costs 178 EUR per year.

This Licence in Sciences de l'éducation et de la formation (Education and Training Sciences) is offered by Université Paris 8 in Saint-Denis, France, as a three-year bachelor's program taught in French, with an intended start in September and yearly tuition of 178 EUR. Education sciences study how learning, teaching, and training take place across different settings, drawing on psychology, sociology, philosophy, and pedagogy to understand how individuals develop knowledge and skills and how educational systems and institutions are organized. Students in this field typically examine the psychology of learning and child development, the sociology of education and social inequality in schooling, the history and philosophy of educational thought, and the design and evaluation of teaching methods and training programs. Coursework often includes observation or practical placements in educational or training settings, giving students direct exposure to classrooms, youth services, or adult training organizations alongside theoretical study. As the program progresses, students may explore areas such as special educational needs, adult and continuing education, educational policy, or the use of digital tools in learning environments. Graduates of education sciences programs pursue a range of paths, including further study toward teaching qualifications, roles in educational administration, curriculum design, training and human resources departments, youth and social work, or educational research. The degree also provides a foundation for careers in nonprofit organizations, cultural institutions, and public agencies working on education and training policy. Because the discipline combines theoretical and applied components, graduates develop both analytical skills for understanding educational systems and practical skills for working directly with learners. As instruction is delivered entirely in French, students need solid French language proficiency to follow lectures, complete assignments, and participate in any placements throughout the three years of study in Saint-Denis.
