About Master in M2 Outils et Systèmes de l’Astronomie et de l’Espace

The tuition fee is 3 EUR per year.

Graduates of the M2 Outils et Systèmes de l’Astronomie et de l’Espace programme go on to pursue careers in space instrumentation, working for agencies such as ESA or CNES. This master’s programme is a one-year specialisation in systems engineering for scientific instruments used in space or in large ground-based astrophysical observatories. Students are trained in five core areas: optics, electronics, mechanics, signal processing, and astronomy and space.

The programme includes a series of professional skills workshops, focusing on project management and methods. Students then select specialisations tailored to their career goals, such as cryogenics, telecommunications, or digital systems. The programme culminates in a lengthy internship with an industry partner, where students apply their learning to real-world engineering projects.

Students come from diverse backgrounds, including M1 physics programmes, engineering schools, or other relevant disciplines. The programme is taught at three locations: Orsay, Paris 15, and Meudon.
