Master Cinema Et Audiovisuel

Tuition fees are 250 EUR per year.

Master Cinema Et Audiovisuel is a two-year graduate program in film and audiovisual studies, offered in French at Université Lumière - Lyon 2, located in Bron, France. This field examines cinema and audiovisual media both as art forms and as industries, covering film history, film theory, production techniques, screenwriting, editing, and the analysis of visual storytelling across film, television, and digital media. Students typically study the aesthetic and technical dimensions of filmmaking alongside the business and cultural context in which films and audiovisual works are produced, distributed, and received by audiences. Coursework often combines critical analysis of films and directors with hands-on production work, including exercises in shooting, editing, and sound design, giving students both theoretical grounding and practical filmmaking experience. Graduates of film and audiovisual programs pursue careers as film editors, production assistants, screenwriters, film critics, festival programmers, or roles within television and digital media production companies, and some continue toward doctoral research in film studies. Because instruction is delivered entirely in French, applicants should have strong French language skills for critical writing, script analysis, and coursework discussion central to the field. The program starts in September and has a yearly tuition of 250 EUR, in line with public university tuition rates in France. Over the two years, students typically move from foundational film theory and history toward more specialized production or critical study tracks. Bron, near Lyon, sits within a metropolitan area with an active cinema and cultural scene, offering relevant context for students working in film and audiovisual studies.
