Master Georessources, Georisques, Geotechnique — Aléas

Tuition comes to 250 EUR per year.

Géoressources, Géorisques, Géotechnique, studied here through an Aléas (hazards) track, focuses specifically on the identification, assessment, and management of natural hazards such as landslides, flooding, seismic activity, and other geological risks. As part of the broader earth-science and geotechnical discipline, this specialization trains students in hazard mapping, risk assessment methodology, monitoring techniques, and the interpretation of geological and hydrological data used to anticipate and mitigate natural hazards. Fieldwork and data analysis typically form a central part of the coursework, alongside study of the regulatory frameworks that govern hazard prevention in France. Graduates commonly move into roles as risk assessment specialists, hazard mapping analysts, consultants for public agencies responsible for disaster prevention, or technical positions within engineering firms working on infrastructure exposed to natural hazards. Given the surrounding alpine terrain, the program has a natural connection to mountain-specific hazards such as landslides and avalanches. The program is delivered by Université Savoie Mont Blanc in Le Bourget Du Lac, France, over two years, with instruction conducted in French. Studies begin in September, and the yearly tuition is 250 EUR. Since fieldwork, data interpretation, and technical reporting are all carried out in French, applicants should be comfortable using the language in both classroom and outdoor field settings. This hazards-focused track is well suited to students concerned with risk prevention and the practical science of protecting people and infrastructure from geological events.
