    About Master i idrettsernæring

At Norwegian School of Sport Sciences, tuition comes to 180,000 NOK per year, and applications close 2027-04-15.

Master i idrettsernæring is a two-year, 120-ECTS master's programme giving students knowledge and skills to advise athletes, recreational exercisers and fitness-industry clients on sport nutrition. It qualifies graduates to work in sport, health and education settings that require specialist competence in sport nutrition.

The programme gives grounding in nutritional physiology, exercise physiology, scientific method and interpretation of scientific literature, and has students work on dietary guidance for athletes, recreational exercisers and their support staff. The second year consists of a nine-week supervised work placement, in which students practise dietary guidance at the placement site, combined with an individual master's thesis built on a scientific research project; the thesis project can extend the work begun during the placement. Placement partners span sport clubs, national sport federations, sport schools, Olympiatoppen's regional offices, Sunn Idrett, the fitness-centre industry, private companies and international partners.

Exchange is possible in the third and fourth semesters, since both the placement and the master's thesis can be completed abroad, with partner institutions including the University of Gothenburg (Sweden), University of Southern Denmark, HAN University of Applied Sciences (Netherlands) and Liverpool John Moores University (UK).
