Master Lettres — Recherche et concours

At Aix-Marseille Université, tuition fees are 250 EUR per year.

Master Lettres, taken here through the Recherche et concours track, is a graduate program in literary studies oriented toward academic research and preparation for competitive teaching examinations. Students in this specialization typically study literary history, textual analysis, and methodology across a range of periods and genres, while also preparing for the specific format and content demands of national teaching or research competitive exams. Coursework often combines advanced literary seminars with exam-focused training in essay writing, textual commentary, and the broad literary and cultural knowledge such exams require. Graduates of a research and exam-preparation track in literature commonly go on to teach French language and literature in secondary or higher education, pursue further academic research in literary studies, or move into roles in publishing, cultural administration, or journalism that draw on strong literary and analytical training. Aix-Marseille Université offers this master's program in Aix-En-Provence Cedex 01, France, with a duration of 2 years. As instruction is in French, applicants need a high level of written and spoken French to succeed in both the academic and exam-preparation components. The program is expected to begin in September, with yearly tuition set at 250 EUR. Because national teaching exams in France demand both broad literary culture and precise analytical writing under exam conditions, this track typically pairs research-level literary seminars with dedicated exam methodology sessions, giving students both the scholarly grounding of a literature master's and the specific preparation needed to sit competitive research or teaching examinations in French letters.

Aix-Marseille University is the largest multidisciplinary French-speaking university, hosting 80,000 students and 8,000 staff across five large campuses. It is a research-intensive institution known for its international outlook and commitment to academic excellence.
