Master Mathematiques

For Master Mathematiques, tuition costs 250 EUR per year.

Universite de Tours, in Tours, France, offers a Master Mathematiques, a two-year master's degree in mathematics taught in French, with a September start and yearly tuition of 250 EUR. Mathematics as a discipline covers the study of abstract structures, quantities, and relationships, and typically divides into pure and applied branches within a master's program. Coursework generally includes advanced algebra, mathematical analysis, and probability and statistics, alongside more specialized topics that may include differential equations, numerical methods, or mathematical modeling, depending on the program's orientation. Students learn to construct rigorous mathematical proofs, work with abstract structures, and apply mathematical reasoning to problems that may originate in physics, computer science, finance, or other quantitative fields. Applied strands of mathematics training often include numerical computation and modeling, where mathematical theory is used to solve practical problems through computational methods. Statistics and probability, when emphasized, prepare students to analyze data and quantify uncertainty, skills that connect mathematics to fields such as data science and finance. The discipline demands sustained, careful reasoning and comfort working with abstraction, alongside increasingly, familiarity with computational tools for modeling and simulation. Graduates from mathematics master's programs pursue varied careers, including roles in data science and analytics, actuarial and financial mathematics, engineering, and scientific research. Many continue to doctoral study with the aim of academic or research careers, while others move directly into industry roles that value strong quantitative and analytical skills, such as risk analysis, software development involving algorithmic work, or operations research. Some graduates also pursue teaching careers, which in France typically requires further qualification through competitive examinations, applying their mathematical training to secondary or higher education instruction.
