Programme Profile

The taught Master's programme in Structural Engineering provides an understanding of the engineering profession and the engineer's responsibility to clients, the community and the environment. Students interested in the soundness and design of structures cover basic sciences that underpin the bulk of the course, delving into framework structures, sound design, elasticity, and concepts such as natural frequency, resonance and impact stresses.

The programme trains graduates in theory and practice to assess the integrity of engineering designs and conceptualise their own designs, culminating in a Masters-level Dissertation and Final Project.

Career Prospects

Graduates satisfy the academic requirement for professional status in Malta as a perit, and as a professional engineer at European level. Many go on to enrol in doctorate programmes.

About University of Malta

The University of Malta is a public university in Msida, Malta. It was founded in 1592 and is the oldest university in Malta. The university has over 13,000 students and 1,500 staff members. The University of Malta traces its origins to the Collegium Melitense, founded by papal charter in 1592, making it one of the oldest universities in the Mediterranean. How tuition works

This catalogue lists 20 of its master's and doctoral programmes, almost all taught in English. Full-time postgraduate fees follow published bands: €10,800 a year for arts and business-related programmes, €13,400 for science-based ones, €14,400 for the Executive MBA, and €11,000 for doctorates. Part-time and extended versions of the same degrees spread the same total cost over more years, which is why their published annual figure is lower.
