Master of Occupational Hygiene

Graduates of this Master of Occupational Hygiene work as occupational hygienists, health and safety consultants, risk assessors or environmental health specialists in industry, government agencies, consultancy firms and research organisations, and many continue to doctoral study. They learn to measure physical, chemical and biological workplace hazards, develop and implement control strategies, and communicate risk information to protect worker health.

The programme combines online learning with three to five days of on-campus block teaching, giving access to a well-resourced occupational health and safety laboratory. Core study covers the scientific and engineering principles of exposure assessment, control design and risk communication, and culminates in a research-based capstone workplace project. Accreditation by the British Occupational Hygiene Society and the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists recognises its relevance to professional practice.
