Master of Science in Data Engineering

The Master of Science in Data Engineering at Constructor University Bremen is a two-year programme at the intersection of data analytics, data science, and the technologies of data acquisition, curation, and management. It is aimed at students with a background in areas such as computer science, physics, applied mathematics, statistics, electrical engineering, or communications engineering who want to deepen their knowledge in a research-oriented programme. The curriculum is divided into four areas. The Methods Area covers core modules including the Big Data Challenge, Data Analytics, Data Security and Privacy, IT Law, Machine Learning, Data Acquisition Technologies and Sensor Networks, Image Processing, and Introduction to Data Management with Python. The Elective Area allows students to integrate and strengthen prior knowledge through four tracks: computer sciences, geoinformatics, bioinformatics, and business and supply chain engineering. The Discovery Area features a project seminar on current topics followed by two advanced projects. The Career Area develops language skills, communications and ethics, and career preparation. Teaching is delivered through lectures, tutorials, laboratory training, and hands-on projects, including collaboration with industry professionals in selected courses.
