Master of Science in Data Science

Tuition fees are 174,509 AED per year.

This master's program in Data Science at the University of Birmingham Dubai addresses the discipline concerned with extracting knowledge and insight from large and complex datasets using statistics, computer science and domain expertise. Data science brings together methods from mathematics, statistics, machine learning and computer programming to collect, clean, analyse and interpret data, supporting decisions across business, government, healthcare and scientific research. Typical coursework includes statistical methods, programming for data analysis, machine learning, data visualisation, database systems and big data technologies, often paired with practical projects where students apply these techniques to real or realistic datasets. Students commonly learn programming languages and tools used throughout the data science profession, along with the mathematical foundations of statistics and probability that underpin sound data analysis. As the volume of data generated by organisations continues to grow, data science has become relevant across nearly every sector, from finance and retail to healthcare and public policy, wherever organisations need to identify patterns, make predictions or support decisions with evidence drawn from data. Graduates of data science programs pursue careers as data scientists, data analysts, machine learning engineers, business intelligence analysts and research scientists, working within technology companies, financial institutions, consulting firms and public sector organisations. The degree also provides a foundation for further academic study in fields such as artificial intelligence, statistics or computer science for students who wish to continue into research. The program is taught in English at the Dubai campus of the University of Birmingham, in the emirate of Dubai, within the United Arab Emirates, a country investing in technology and digital transformation initiatives that create demand for data science expertise. The program is accredited by the UAE Commission for Academic Accreditation.
