Master of Science in Structural Engineering

Tuition fees are 42,500 AED per year.

The Master of Science in Structural Engineering at the British University in Dubai, taught in English in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, provides advanced study of how structures such as buildings, bridges, and towers are designed to safely resist the loads placed upon them. The discipline builds on undergraduate civil or structural engineering knowledge, covering subjects such as advanced structural analysis, reinforced concrete and steel design, dynamic and seismic behavior of structures, foundation engineering, and the application of design codes used in professional practice. Students typically engage with both theoretical modeling of structural behavior and applied design work, using analysis software to test how structures respond to different loading conditions and to refine designs that meet safety and performance requirements. Many programs at this level include a research component or major project, allowing students to investigate a specific structural engineering problem in depth, which may draw on topics such as tall building design, long-span structures, or the behavior of specific construction materials. Given the prominence of high-rise construction and large infrastructure projects across Dubai and the broader United Arab Emirates, graduates with advanced structural engineering training are well positioned to contribute to complex building and infrastructure design work. Career paths for graduates include structural engineer, design engineer, structural consultant, and technical lead roles within engineering consultancies, contractors, and developers, often on projects that require more advanced technical judgment than entry-level positions. Some graduates pursue further doctoral research in structural or civil engineering. The British University in Dubai is accredited by the UAE Commission for Academic Accreditation, and the program is conducted in English, aligning with international structural engineering standards and practice.
