Master Optique, Image, Vision, Multimedia — Photonics Engineering (PE)

Tuition fees for Master Optique, Image, Vision, Multimedia — Photonics Engineering (PE) are 250 EUR per year.

In Saint-Etienne, France, Université Jean Monnet offers Master Optique, Image, Vision, Multimedia — Photonics Engineering (PE), a master's program taught in French. The parent program, Master Optique, Image, Vision, Multimedia, corresponds to a master's in optics, image, vision and multimedia, within which this track specializes in photonics engineering. Photonics engineering examines the generation, control, and application of light, covering lasers, optical fibers, sensors, and photonic devices. Students typically study optics, optoelectronics, laser physics, and the design of photonic systems used in telecommunications, medicine, and manufacturing. The program combines theoretical coursework with laboratory practice in optical engineering, including hands-on work with optical components and measurement instruments. Graduates commonly find roles in telecommunications, optical component manufacturing, biomedical optics, or research and development within photonics-based industries. Students also gain experience with fiber optic systems, laser sources, and detectors, learning to characterize and troubleshoot optical setups. This mix of applied physics and engineering practice supports work on the design, testing, and integration of photonic components into larger systems. Such training also provides a foundation for further specialization in areas such as biophotonics or laser manufacturing. Coursework spans two years, starting each September, is taught in French, and carries a tuition of 250 EUR per year.
