Master Physique — Tronc commun

For Master Physique — Tronc commun, tuition comes to 250 EUR per year.

Université de Caen Normandie offers a Master Physique with a Tronc commun, or common core, track, based in Caen, France. Physics is the discipline concerned with the fundamental laws that govern matter, energy, motion, and the forces that shape the physical universe, from subatomic particles to astronomical scales. A common-core track at the master's level typically consolidates and extends undergraduate physics training before students specialize, covering areas such as classical and quantum mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics and statistical physics, and an introduction to more advanced topics like condensed matter physics, optics, or nuclear and particle physics, depending on the university's offerings. Alongside theoretical coursework, physics programs generally include laboratory work, numerical simulation, and training in scientific computing and data analysis, since experimental verification and modeling are central to how physics research is conducted. Students are also usually expected to develop skills in scientific writing and the presentation of research findings, in preparation for a possible research career or specialized professional track later in the program. Graduates who complete a common-core physics master's typically move on to more specialized study in fields such as materials science, astrophysics, medical physics, or engineering physics, or enter careers in research and development, instrumentation, data science, or technical roles in industry and the public sector. Some continue toward doctoral research. The program is delivered in French, takes two years to complete, and begins in September, with a yearly tuition of 250 EUR, in line with tuition at other French public universities.
