Graduate School of Engineering

At University of Fukui, tuition is 535,800 JPY per year.

The University of Fukui offers a Frontier Fiber Technology and Science track through its Master's Course program, a two-year degree taught in English, based in Fukui, with entry points in October and April. The University of Fukui is located in Fukui, a city on the western coast of central Japan near Kyoto and Osaka, and it operates under the policy statement "KAKUCHI, the driving force for the future of people and society." The university has three campuses, Bunkyo, Matsuoka, and Tsuruga, and four schools covering Education, Medical Sciences, Engineering, and Global and Community Studies, with 5,000 students enrolled, accounting for about one-half of the roughly 11,000 university students in the prefecture. A master's program in this field typically covers fiber materials and textile-related technology, covering topics such as fiber chemistry, functional and technical fibers, and the processing methods used to develop new fiber-based materials for industrial and consumer applications. Students combine coursework in materials science with laboratory training in fiber synthesis and characterization, and many programs of this kind culminate in a thesis project carried out under a faculty supervisor, giving students direct research experience under faculty guidance before graduation. Graduates of programs in this field commonly pursue careers in materials research, textile and fiber industry roles, and product development positions in companies working with functional materials, or continue toward doctoral study. Completing the degree at the University of Fukui over two years combines specialized graduate training with the university's location on the coast of central Japan, within reach of the Kyoto and Osaka region, delivered through an English-language curriculum.
