The Master's Program in Humanities at Kobe University takes two years or more, requiring students to earn credits in common subjects, elective subjects, and master's thesis seminars, followed by a review of research results and final examinations.

This program is divided into two departments: Human Cultural Studies and Human Social Dynamics. In Human Cultural Studies, students develop the ability to inquire into the contemporary meaning of cultural phenomena, focusing on classical works. In Human Social Dynamics, students gain the ability to analyze socio-cultural dynamics through fieldwork and contribute to the formation of new societal norms. Both departments aim to acquire the basic abilities of researchers and enliven the humanities in a knowledge-based society.
