    Introduction

Diné College began in 1968 as Navajo Community College and was later renamed Diné College. It is the first tribally controlled collegiate institution in the United States. The college serves Native students regardless of tribal affiliation as well as non-Native students, and it considers applications from international students.

Academic areas include Arts and Humanities, Business and Social Science, Diné Studies and Education, and Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. The college offers six certificate programs and one master’s degree program. Shiprock Campus has developed strengths in scientific research involving faculty and students. Community Centers provide academic advising, career counseling, financial-aid assistance, and preparation for further study.

The main campus is in Tsaile, Arizona, in the Four Corners area and the Chuska Mountain Range. Additional campuses and centers are located in Window Rock and Tuba City, Arizona, while Shiprock and Crownpoint serve students in New Mexico. Tsaile supports residential and commuter students with dormitories, family housing, and a cafeteria. Housing is unavailable at community campuses, is not guaranteed, and gives priority to full-time students when space is available.
