About Mechanical Analysis and Automation

The module Pneumatic / Electro-Pneumatic and Hydraulic Systems Full-Time introduces students to pneumatic and hydraulic components, teaching standard IEC symbols and allowing the design and simulation of circuits in specialised software. Building on that, the programme covers engineering mathematics, mechanics, CAD modelling and PLC programming, providing the analytical and practical skills needed for modern manufacturing and automation roles. It suits individuals with a background in engineering or a strong interest in the mechanical aspects of automation who wish to study online and part-time while balancing work commitments.

Hands-on simulation enhances practical understanding.

Delivered entirely online, the one-year part-time course carries 30 credit points and prepares learners for progression onto level-7 mathematics. Modules include Introduction to Engineering Mathematics, Introduction to Engineering Mechanics, Intermediate Engineering Mechanics, Computer Aided Design and Modelling, Automation Programming and the aforementioned pneumatic and hydraulic systems module. Graduates acquire the ability to model, analyse and programme mechanical systems for industrial applications.
