Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical engineering studies how machines, structures and thermal systems are designed, built and maintained. The field draws on mechanics, materials science, thermodynamics and manufacturing processes, and students move from foundational mathematics and physics courses into applied subjects such as machine design, fluid mechanics, heat transfer and control systems. Laboratory work and design projects typically accompany the theoretical coursework, giving students hands-on experience with prototyping, testing and computer-aided design tools used throughout industry. Graduates of mechanical engineering programs work across a wide range of sectors, including automotive, aerospace, energy, manufacturing and consumer products, in roles spanning product design, process engineering, quality control and research. The discipline rewards analytical thinking and problem solving, since engineers are routinely asked to translate a functional requirement into a workable, manufacturable and cost-effective design. Many graduates go on to specialize further in areas such as robotics, energy systems or materials engineering, or pursue graduate study.
