Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering Partnership Route

Heriot-Watt University’s Mechanical Engineering Partnership Route is delivered in collaboration with Forth Valley College and Edinburgh College, allowing students to complete a relevant HND before entering Year 3 of Heriot-Watt’s BEng (Hons)/MEng Mechanical Engineering.

This degree route offers a blend of theoretical engineering principles and hands-on application, with a focus on sustainability. Core modules include mechanics, fields and forces, electrical engineering, mathematics, mechanical engineering, design and manufacture, fluid mechanics, mechanics of materials, thermodynamics, and sustainable development. Students can tailor their studies with specialist engineering units, and gain key transferable skills, working on projects that address global issues such as energy efficiency and medical engineering.

Research-active academics inform the curriculum, with 96% of the university’s engineering research classed as world-leading, and a focus on promoting excellence in biomedical engineering, digital engineering, energy harvesting and conversion, and multiphase flow.
