Bachelor in Mental Health Nursing

Graduates work as qualified mental health nurses in hospitals, community mental health services, residential units, or can move into nurse management, education, or specialise in renal, oncology or orthopaedic nursing. Employers include the Health Service Executive, private mental health providers and research organisations.

Placement in regional mental health services forms the core of the training.

In the first year students study modules such as Biological & Related Sciences 1, Introduction to Behaviour Sciences & Scholarship, Professional & Ethical Nursing Studies 1 and Nursing Skills 1, each combining lectures, tutorials and lab work to build the scientific and ethical foundations of nursing practice.
