The MSc Psychology: Learning Sciences and Human Development is a four-semester, research-oriented programme offered by the Munich Center of the Learning Sciences (MCLS) at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München. The programme integrates perspectives from psychology, educational science, neuroscience, biology, mathematics, medicine, and computer science, all sharing an empirical and quantitative orientation. Core themes include Human Development; Cognition, Instruction, Learning, and Technology; Motivation and Emotion; and Machine Learning, AI, and Computational Modelling of Cognition. Teaching takes place in seminars, small classes, and colloquia rather than large lectures, with approaches such as problem-based learning and peer-to-peer teaching. Six compulsory modules cover theoretical frameworks, research and evaluation methods, assessment and diagnostic methods, academic skill building, an internship of at least 350 hours, and the final Master's thesis module. Seven elective compulsory modules allow students to specialise and undertake empirical research projects in areas such as human development, instructional technology, motivation and emotion, or AI and computational modelling. Further elective compulsory modules explore teaching science, educational systems, or educational counselling and special education perspectives. The programme starts in the winter semester. The programme is offered at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München in München, Germany.
