About Bachelor in Multi-/Interdisciplinary Studies (Bachelor's)

For Bachelor in Multi-/Interdisciplinary Studies (Bachelor's), tuition costs 42,778 USD per year.

This programme is designed for students with broad academic interests or career goals that do not fit within a single traditional major. It allows students to create a custom degree by combining courses from at least three different departments. The curriculum must center around a unifying theme and be approved by a committee of department chairs and the Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences. Students work closely with a faculty advisor to develop a plan that meets university and college requirements.

The programme requires a minimum of 45 credits, including 18 credits from a primary department and 12 credits each from two other departments. At least 15 of the primary department credits and 6 from each of the other departments must be at the 300 level or higher. A capstone course with a senior project and reflection is required.

Graduates pursue careers in fields aligned with their individually designed interdisciplinary focus, often in roles requiring integrated knowledge across multiple disciplines.

Students must consult with a faculty advisor and the Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences early in the process. A formal proposal with a rationale, learning goals, assessment plan, and course list must be submitted and approved. The plan must be filed with the Registrar’s Office.

The programme totals about 45 credit hours. On-campus, full-time or part-time, with typical duration depending on course load and approval timeline. For international students, tuition is above the median for US programmes. The institution admits about 54% of applicants.
