Bachelor in Musical instruments

Musical Instruments, within the Faculty of Piano, Organ, Harpsichord and Early Instruments at The Grażyna and Kiejstut Bacewicz Academy of Music in Łódź, is a first-cycle, full-time bachelor's program taught in English over three years. Majors include piano, harpsichord, organ, and early instruments such as Baroque violin, Baroque viola, Baroque cello, viola da gamba, traverse flute, recorder, Baroque oboe, and lute. The program is addressed to musically talented candidates who hold a certificate of secondary education and wish to continue their music education and improve their skills on a chosen instrument; candidates must demonstrate both instrumental ability and general music knowledge at the level of a secondary music school. Graduates receive a diploma of completion of first-cycle studies in their chosen instrument and are entitled to apply for second-cycle studies. Graduates hold qualifications to work as instrumentalist musicians, including as soloists and chamber musicians, and to lead didactic classes in primary music schools; pedagogical qualifications are acquired through parallel study in the Pedagogical Study track, in accordance with standards for teacher preparation. A first-cycle instrumental program of this kind combines individual instrument tuition, including specialized early-instrument technique, with ensemble playing and music theory, preparing graduates for performance and teaching careers. The three-year, English-medium format at the Bacewicz Academy of Music gives international students a route into specialized early-instrument and keyboard training within Poland's conservatory system, based in Łódź.
