Introduction

La Roche University began in 1963 when the Sisters of Divine Providence established an independent liberal arts university in the North Hills of Pittsburgh. Its Catholic heritage remains part of campus life, while students of all faiths and backgrounds are welcomed. The university is residential and offers undergraduate, master’s and doctoral programs.

Academic strengths include education, business, criminal justice, cybersecurity and forensics, psychology, nursing, health and medical sciences, interior architecture and design, and graphic design. Students gain practical experience through the SOLVE Center, where every major includes hands-on work with real organizations and outcomes. Internships, employer partnerships and career preparation are integrated into the student experience. Small classes and personal guidance support students as they prepare for careers and further study.

The campus offers student organizations and NCAA Division III athletics within a community focused on global engagement and cross-cultural learning. International students can use the intensive English as a Second Language program before continuing undergraduate or graduate coursework on campus. The program covers five levels and includes critical reading, analytical writing, oral fluency, listening and notetaking, and grammatical accuracy. Instruction is available in fall, spring and summer, with part-time study subject to visa requirements. A Pathway program may support international students seeking an undergraduate degree.
